WILSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WSMV) - Thursday is National Kindness Day, and Wilson County Schools are celebrating with these new “Buddy Benches” that were created by Whataburger.

The fast-food chain partnered with the Wilson County Kind campaign and school resource officers (SRO) to provide the benches.

The benches are meant to be safe spaces for students and help develop them friendships. Students who need help are encouraged to sit on these benches, so a counselor or SRO can get them the help they need.

“Kind of taking out the stigma surrounding mental illness and making sure that kids are being taken care of and that they’re supported, I think is a huge issue and that we have to fight and conquer that. And I think by showing these buddy benches, we’re also able to connect those students and
