It's a game-changer for Massachusetts State Police when it comes to fleeing vehicles: Troopers can deploy a GPS tracking device from their cruiser that sticks onto a suspect's vehicle so it can be tracked rather than chased.

State troopers have been using StarChase technology since last year to tag, track and safely apprehend suspects without engaging in dangerous high-speed pursuits.

Troopers Colton Leary and Robert Beer, with the Massachusetts State Police Driver Training Unit, demonstrated how it works.

"I simply hit 'arm' and then hit 'launch,'" explained Leary. "It sticks to that car, and suddenly, we start getting GPS tracking updates."
