MASON CITY, Iowa — The NIACC John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center and North Iowa Area SBDC have named Alisha Johnson of A. Johnson Trucking in Northwood as the November 2025 Entrepreneur of the Month.

Alisha Johnson transitioned from a 25-year career as a hairstylist to owning A. Johnson Trucking, LLC, in Northwood. "I needed to get out from behind the chair and be able to be home," Johnson said.

Her company employs eight people and engages in diverse trucking services, including aggregate work for road construction, flatbed hauling, and gravel road maintenance. Living near gravel pits inspired her new venture. "Seeing all that truck traffic, that energy and industry, I thought, I want to be a part of that," she said.
