BOISE, Idaho - The man who killed four University of Idaho students three years ago Thursday will have to pay additional restitution to families of two of his victims.
Ada County Judge Stephen Hippler sided with Kaylee Goncalves' and Madison Mogen's families in a court order handed down Thursday.
Bryan Kohberger pleaded guilty to killing Goncalves, Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin on November 13, 2022.
The families argued Kohberger should pay more than the restitution agreed upon in his plea agreement, specifically for urns that now carry the ashes of Kaylee and Madison.
The cost of those urns was not known at the time of the plea agreement.
Hippler ordered Kohberger to pay $1,420 to the Goncalves family and $1,587 to Madison's mother Karen Laramie.
