COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina High School League Executive Committee voted unanimously Thursday to accept North Augusta High School’s self-imposed penalties following a self-reported eligibility violation involving a middle school student.
The 15–0 decision means North Augusta will face a $1,500 fine, loss of three days of softball practice, and be limited to one scrimmage during the 2025–2026 season, penalties the school itself proposed after the incident to the committee.
The issue stemmed from a Highland Springs Middle School eighth grader who participated in four open-season softball practices at North Augusta High School in early October. The student, who previously participated in junior varsity softball for Midland Valley High School, was determined to be ineligible because
