COLUMBUS — The 12 Polk County boys soccer seniors remember when they only won four games as freshmen.

That's why the top-seeded Wolverines were overjoyed after they defeated No. 5 Patton 2-1 in the fourth round of the NCHSAA 3A playoffs on Nov. 13 at G.M. Tennant Stadium in Columbus.

Polk County (17-0-3) will host No. 2 Pine Lake Prep (17-3-1) in the regional finals on Nov. 18 for a chance to reach the state title game for the first time since 2006. The state finals are scheduled for Nov. 20-22.
