The City of Winnipeg says it is implementing changes after a child was hit by a car while riding a bike in the south Osborne area last week.
Dozens of Winnipeggers rallied at the corner of Osborne Street and Brandon Avenue to demand safer infrastructure on Thursday afternoon, just over a week after a driver turning left off Osborne hit 10-year-old cyclist Jakob Adams.
Crystal Adams, Jakob's mother, said she had just gotten home from a night shift when she got a call from her son's school. She met him at the Children's Hospital.
"Jakob was struck and had mostly facial damage. Had some injuries on his right side. He had seven stitches to his forehead," she said, adding that he also had broken and displaced teeth.
