SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Sioux Falls Washington was placed under a shelter-in-place order on Thursday afternoon following the reported accidental discharge of a weapon.
According to a letter sent out to parents, officials said an elementary student was handling a firearm near 6th Street and Bahnson Avenue when it accidentally fired, causing a self-inflicted, non-life-threatening injury.
The injured child received medical care, and police are investigating this incident.
