A 49-year-old Perry County man died after he crashed into a tree in Wheatfield Township earlier this week, according to Pennsylvania State Police .

The crash, which took place around 4 p.m. Tuesday on Sulphur Springs Road, killed Kenneth E. Heffley Jr., police said.

Heffley Jr. was driving north in a Kia Forte when he crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic and struck a tree off the side of the road.

He was taken to Penn State Holy Spirit Medical Center, where he died of his injuries around 11:45 p.m.
