A problem that has plagued supermarkets across the country has reared its head in Northern Tasmania.
Customers at Kings Meadows Coles have reported experiencing regular static electricity shocks while shopping at the Meadow Mews supermarket.
Regular customer Hans Receveur said he had noticed the shocks repeatedly on every visit, particularly on cold or dry days.
He said a recent visit had been particularly bad.
"I would have been shocked about 12-15 times, pretty much every time I reached for an item," Mr Receveur said.
"These aren't minor shocks, this is like grabbing a low-wattage electric fence.
"I've got two children below the age of two inside a bloody metal shopping trolley ... and they're getting zapped each time I'm reaching across.
