DEVILS LAKE – After convincing wins in the first two sets of the Region 2B title match here Thursday, defending state champion Langdon Area/Munich found itself in a dogfight, if only for a moment.
No worries. The Cardinals have been here before.
Down 7-5 after a kill by Park River/Fordville-Lankin’s Bailee Seim, Langdon Area/Munich burst from its momentary lull, rallied to a 19-9 lead, eased to a 25-13 win and earned another trip to the state tournament.
All told, the scores alone tell the story: 25-9, 25-15, 25-13.
“We were sparked by our defense tonight, there’s no question,” said Langdon Area/Munich coach Rich Olson. “We had some outstanding digs and won some of the longer rallies, too.”
And, “our serve also got us going, too,” Olson said. He credited Liv Prouty, a sophomore serve
