KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Tennessee outscored Belmont 14-2 over the final 4 minutes and 54 seconds on Thursday, avoiding a major upset to the in-state Bruins, 68-58.

Former Lady Vol guard and Farragut alum Avery Strickland starred in her return to Rocky Top, leading Belmont with 14 points.

With the game tied with just under four minutes remaining, Kaniya Boyd hit a three-pointer to give Tennessee a lead they wouldn’t surrender throughout the remainder of the game. A Zee Spearman three off a Boyd offensive rebound proved to be the dagger.
