A man is dead after being hit by a vehicle Thursday in Georgetown, Massachusetts.

The crash happened around 5:41 p.m. on West Main Street, the Essex County District Attorney's Office said.

The victim was brought to Merrimack Health Haverhill Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name was not released Thursday night.

The driver of the BMW 430xi Coupe that hit the man remained at the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
