As counting begins in the Bihar Assembly Elections, all eyes are on Mokama, which will see Anant Singh of the JD(U) take on Veena Devi of the RJD.
Going by the early trends, Anant Singh seems to be leading, reasserting his bid over Mokama, a prominent seat in Patna district. Singh is a controversial leader and a strongman who commanded a 35,757-vote margin in the last Assembly election, all while languishing in jail.
He has been contesting from the seat since 2005. He started off as a JD(U) candidate, then switched to RJD and also contested as Independent. In the 2020 elections, Anant Singh, contesting as an RJD candidate, won Mokama with a strong margin.
