Boston has seen enough of Tim Stutzle for a while. In a matchup that should have some added attention in Europe, the German Ottawa star’s performance bested the German-coached Bruins as the Senators beat Boston, 5-3, on Thursday in Canada’s capital.
The loss ended the Bruins’ winning streak at seven games.
Boston will stay up north to face Montreal on Saturday.
The loss wasted the Bruins’ comeback. They trailed 2-0 and 3-2, but tied the game at 3-3 before Stutzle scored twice.
Stutzle has four goals and two assists in three games this year vs. Boston.
The Bruins took a penalty on the first shift of the game and Ottawa made it hurt as Claude Giroux scored on the power play just 1:28 into the game.
Dylan Cozens doubled that lead to 2-0 with 57 seconds left in the opening period.
