A nonprofit is celebrating its 50th year of helping cancer patients throughout the Mahoning Valley.
Silver Lining Cancer Fund was founded by Dr. Lawrence Pass over 50 years ago.
According to a release outlining the Ladies and Gentlemen's Night Out event, Dr. Pass worked as an oncologist with the Youngstown Hospital Association in Youngstown and helped donate time and money to help cancer patients in the tri-county area.
Silver Lining Cancer Fund is operated by a group of healthcare professionals and volunteers, and Thursday's event aimed to remember Dr. Pass, who died on March 24, 2021, and support cancer survivors.
"Here we are, fifty years later, and still going on. My father, may he rest in peace, is no longer with us, but his legacy lives on with this wonderful organization," said
