A Hackensack woman was arrested last week after she was accused of knowing about a child being sexually assaulted and failing to stop it, authorities announced Thursday.
The investigation began earlier this month when the Hackensack Police Department notified the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office about the alleged assaults, the office said in a statement.
Detectives determined that Jennifer Garcia-Mota, 42, had prior knowledge of the assaults and allowed them to continue, investigators said.
No other information was released by the office.
Garcia-Mota was arrested on Nov. 7 in Paramus and charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, authorities said.
She was taken to the Bergen County Jail and held there until her first court appearance, the office said.
