LIBERTY LAKE, Wash. — The City of Liberty Lake announced on its Facebook page on Thursday that its former Mayor Shane Brickner has passed away at the age of 50 on Nov. 8. The city states that Brickner died of cardiac arrest.
Brickner worked with the city for 15 years, starting as a reserve officer for Liberty Lake on June 3, 2006. He served in this position until Dec. 31, 2019.
He joined the regional SWAT team in 2014 and then left the team in 2019. The city says he got many awards and recognitions, like the Reserve Officer of the Year and Volunteer of the Year.
Brickner served as a council member starting in 2012 and continued for eight years.
The city says it will announce a celebration of life for Brickner soon.
