PLANO, Texas — A man armed with a hammer attacked a female jogger at a park Thursday evening, police said.

According to the Plano Police Department, officers responded to an assault call at Bob Woodruff Park in the 2300 block of Shiloh Road around 5 p.m. Police said a woman had been jogging in the park when a man attacked, striking her with a hammer.

Police said after the attack, the man fled. Officers later identified and arrested the man, who is currently in police custody, per the department. His identity has not yet been released, and charges are pending.

The woman was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Plano PD said.
