OWENSBORO, KY. (WFIE) - In KHSAA football, the Apollo Eagles are still alive and kicking in the class 5A playoffs.
John Edge’s squad beat Barren County last week, 19-7, and with that win, it marked the first time in 20 years, that Apollo football had won a playoff game.
They did it shorthanded too, as quarterback Maxwell Johnson got hurt midway thru the game, so J.T. Edge moved under center, and threw a couple TDs. That just shows the versatility, that this Eagles team has.
Apollo started 0-3 against very tough competition, but they had a couple close losses, which gave them confidence, and then when they beat previously unbeaten Madisonville, their confidence grew even more.
So, Apollo will take on Bowling Green, Friday night, at 7:00. We’ll have highlights of that game, on Touchdown
