WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - In just a few weeks, rows of headstones at the Indiana Veterans Home Cemetery will be covered with fresh green wreaths to honor veterans this holiday season.
The tradition began back in 1992 when a wreath manufacturer in Maine found himself with a surplus of wreaths.
Owner Morrill Worcester of Worcester Wreath Company then had the idea to place the surplus of wreaths along headstones at Arlington National.
That then sparked the idea for the formation of Wreaths Across America. The organization now has over three million sponsored wreaths that placed on headstones of service members. In 2024, there was 4,909 participating locations including in West Lafayette.
