WILDWOOD, N.J. (WPVI) -- A Jersey shore firefighter is getting recognition for his heroic actions during an in-flight emergency while returning from Florida.
The City of Wildwood is honoring Nick Palmer, who assisted with a medical emergency on a recent flight.
Witnesses say that, without hesitation, he professionally and calmly helped a passenger in distress when flight attendants requested assistance.
"Nick's actions are a perfect example of what it means to be a Wildwood firefighter," said Commissioner of Public Safety Steve Mikulski. "Even off duty, his instinct was to act. His training, confidence, and professionalism helped stabilize a life-threatening situation thousands of feet in the air. We could not be prouder."
