LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - DeWitt native Chad Pipkens has been passionate about fishing from a young age.

“I’m a positive dude, and I always think it’s going to happen. It may not happen, but I’m going to believe it happens until it’s no longer on the table,” said Pipkens.

Pipkens grew up in Holt, and with the encouragement of his family, he chased his dream of fishing.

“I got into bass fishing when I was, you know, probably when I could ride a bike, you know, 10 or 12 years old, you know, throwing the backpack on with tackle, two rods across the handlebar cars, going to different ponds,” said Pipkens.

Pipkens competed in his first fishing competition at age 16 on Lake Lansing, and he’s stuck with it ever since.
