Prashant Kishor's much-hyped political debut with the Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) has largely fallen short in the high-stakes Bihar Assembly elections. Early counting trends across 243 constituencies show the party struggling to challenge the dominance of established political heavyweights.
Positioning itself as a revolutionary third alternative to the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the opposition Mahagathbandhan, JSP is currently leading in only a handful of seats, closely aligning with the near-unanimous predictions of major exit polls.
Despite fielding candidates in almost all 243 Assembly seats and running a year-long, intensive grassroots campaign, including the popular Jan Suraaj Padyatra, the party has been unable to convert its momentum into substantial electoral gains.
