ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - St. Mary’s South Side Catholic High School’s boys soccer team was forced to forfeit its district championship victory after the Missouri State High School Activities Association ruled the team played with ineligible players.

The ruling stems from a fight that occurred during a game days before, in a Nov. 6 match against Gateway Science Academy, where all but three players from each team came off the bench near the end of the game.

“Devastating. I don’t know what to say to my young men,” said Mike England, St. Mary’s South Side Catholic High School president. “They know what they did was wrong. And they know that that comes with consequences. But they fully believed that they were serving those consequences when they played that game.”
