BOISE, Idaho — About 40 people gathered on the steps of the Idaho State Capitol on Thursday evening for a vigil promoting migrant dignity and justice, hoping to foster what organizers called "a culture of solidarity instead of fear and silence."

The event, organized by local Catholic leaders, featured Spanish worship songs, Aztec dancing and Catholic prayers in multiple languages as attendees showed support for migrants, refugees and asylum seekers.

"With all of the pain that's going on in the world right now, if we can shine some light somewhere, it's good to shine it," said Oralia Lorenzana, who helped organize the event. "This one was up for today, is up for now, to pray for immigrants and migrants."
