BOISE, Idaho — In a state built on agriculture, Idahoans value farmers working year-round to provide the community with quality, healthy food.

Thanksgiving is fast approaching, and local farms are harvesting the final pieces of what will soon fill holiday tables across the Treasure Valley.

At Hen & Hare Microfarm in Boise, owner Jessica Harrold raises livestock and runs her business around the farm full-time. That includes raising dozens of turkeys that will make their way to family dinners later this month.

“We usually start production in March,” Harrold said. “They are hatched out for us, we bring them back and put them in our brooder setup in the barn. There they stay for two months until they're fully feathered out and really durable to go outside.”
