TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Pima County Supervisor Rex Scott addressed fire concerns head-on at a community meeting near Catalina Thursday night.
It is an area deemed a high-fire risk zone, and residents have been feeling the impacts on their land and their pockets.
“We’ve had a lot of fires up here recently, from the Big Horn that we wrapped all the way around Catalina State Park and weren’t able to get into the Cody Fire that was out in Oracle,” Golder Ranch Fire Captain Kurt Strieter said.
It’s part of the reason Scott put the meeting together.
“What I’m trying to be here is a convener, a convener of departments within the county that can be of assistance and support to our constituents,” Scott said.
