Early trends on the day of vote counting in Bihar show the ruling NDA leading 161 assembly seats, as compared to 78 of the opposition Mahagathbandhan as of 10:20 am on Friday, according to trends available on the Election Commission's website.

The BJP, during the initial phase of counting as per the Election Commission, was leading in 72 seats, the JD(U) in 71, the LJP (Ram Vilas) in 138 and HAMS in four. Moreover, the opposition RJD was leading in 43 seats, and the Congress in eight seats. Read
