Thursday’s South, Non-Public B final had been four years in the making for the Ranney School.

The Panthers advanced to their first sectional final in 2021, and fell to Princeton Day 3-1. Fast-forward to Thursday and those two teams met for the second time with another South, Non-Public B title on the line.

This time though, it was Ranney that was crowned champion. The top-seeded Panthers defeated second-seeded Princeton Day 4-0 to win their first title in program history.

“Obviously we wanted to win, we played them in 2021 and we lost 3-1 so we knew the rivalry we had coming into the game,” Ranney’s Eddie Magherini said. “I think that throughout the state tournament we’ve been pretty dominant, we got the win and we’re looking forward to Sunday.”
