Lakshya Sen defeated former world champion Loh Kean Yew to reach the semifinals of the Japan Masters 2025 in Kumamoto City on Friday.
The Indian shuttler produced a commanding performance in the BWF World Tour Super 500 event.
Seeded seventh, Sen dominated Loh with sharp strokes and relentless pace. He won 21-13, 21-17 in just 39 minutes. The victory marked his seventh win in ten career meetings against the Singaporean. Sen, ranked world No. 15, had earlier finished runner-up at the Hong Kong Open in September.
The opening game saw both players locked at 4-4. Sen broke away with an 11-8 lead at the interval. He unleashed six consecutive points to move 18-9 ahead and closed the game with authority. Loh attempted a comeback in the second game. He stayed level at 9-9 before Sen surged to 1
