Several parents in a small mining town on WA's south coast have pulled their children out of the community's only long day care centre, following allegations against a senior employee's husband.

Great Southern man Ronald Houghton, 58, is accused of producing child exploitation material and possessing or copying an indecent or obscene article in Ravensthorpe between August and October this year.

Police said they found "written child exploitation material" on a device belonging to the accused during a search, and that at this time, there was no evidence indicating any local children were victims.

His wife is the assistant operations manager at Regional Early Education & Development Inc (REED), which has 26 centres across regional WA, including Ravensthorpe and nearby Hopetoun.
