The agitation of farmers demanding an increase in sugarcane prices turned violent in Bagalkot, Karnataka. More than 100 tractors loaded with sugarcane were set on fire at Godavari Sugar Factory in Rabkavi-Banhatti taluk.

SP Siddharth Goyal stated that farmers also pelted stones, in which some policemen were injured. Some people were also injured. He himself brought the situation under control.

Farmers are demanding a price of ₹3500 per ton for sugarcane from the state's sugar mills. While sugar mill owners have offered a price of ₹3300 per ton, farmers are not willing to accept this price.

Sugarcane farmers have been agitating for increased prices in several districts of the state since November 7.
