Bhubaneswar: As a cold wave continued to sweep Odisha, mercury levels plummeted sharply across the state with night temperature dropping below 15 degrees Celsius in at least 18 places.
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the night temperature dropped below 8 degrees Celsius in the hill stations of Kandhamal and Koraput districts. Semiliguda was the coldest in the state at 6.3°C, followed by G Udayagiri at 7°C and Daringbadi at 7.5°C.
Phulbani town in Kandhamal district recorded a minimum temperature of 8.2 degree Celsius, 5 degree C below normal in last 24 hours.
Similarly, the night temperature in Jharsuguda stood at 10.4 degree Celsius, 6.7 degree below normal, while Kirei in Sundargarh recorded 11.3 degree Celsius and Rourkela recorded 12.2 degree Celsius.
