Local athletes from the Sac-Joaquin Section marked National Signing Day with major college commitments across several sports. St. Mary’s High School in Stockton celebrated multiple signees, including baseball players Dax Hardcastle heading to Mississippi State and Nico Bavaro to UCLA, along with basketball standout Evelini Smith to Oregon State. The school also recognized wrestler Alanna Harwell, the first girl in school history to sign for wrestling, and soccer player Ethan Huerta committing to the University of Jamestown. At Vanden High School, CIF 100m and 200m state champion Naija Sizemore committed to Ohio State. The early signing period continues through next Wednesday as the region prepares for the Sac-Joaquin Section high school football playoffs.
