New Delhi, Nov 14: Reliance Group chairman Anil Ambani has offered to appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) through “virtual means” after being summoned under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) for Friday.
A spokesperson for the 66-year-old businessman said Ambani has assured “full cooperation” in the ongoing probe concerning the Jaipur-Reengus Highway Project, where the ED suspects that around ₹100 crore were allegedly routed abroad via hawala.
Sources said the ED had initially asked Ambani to appear in person and record his statement. Several others, including alleged hawala operators, have already been questioned in the case. Hawala refers to the illegal transfer of funds, mostly in cash.
