The spine, also the backbone, is among the most necessary organs in the body. It basically carries our weight, allows movement, and protects the spinal cord, the direct connection between the brain and the rest of the body. Still, bad posture, aging, falling, or certain diseases could result in spine disorders, causing pain, stiffness, and reduced motion. Gaining knowledge about these disorders, their origins, and possible treatments can empower people to adopt a preventive approach and to get the right care on time. The spine consists of 33 vertebrae, small bones that are stacked one on top of another. There are the cervical (neck), thoracic (mid-back), lumbar (lower back), sacral, and coccygeal regions.
