Queensland woman Toyah Cordingley's mobile phone connected with cell towers on an apparent journey away from the beach where she was found dead, a court has heard.

The 24-year-old's body was found buried beneath the sand at Wangetti, north of Cairns, the morning after she had gone to walk her dog on the afternoon of October 21, 2018.

Former Innisfail nurse Rajwinder Singh, 41, has pleaded not guilty to her murder.

The court has heard investigators used Telstra records to plot the movements of Ms Cordingley's phone on the day of her death.
