The Met Office has issued a 12-hour "danger to life" amber rain alert for six areas of the West Midlands as Storm Claudia batters Britain.

Weather experts have forecast that from 12pm today (November 14) until 12am tonight, there is expected to be heavy rain "leading to flooding and disruption" in Hertfordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire , Warwickshire , the West Midlands Conurbation and Worcestershire .

Storm Claudia appears to be responsible for this weather havoc, as 40-60mm of rain is expected widely across this particular region.

The Met Office website explains: "Storm Claudia, previously named by the Spanish Meteorological Service, will bring rain that will become persistent and heavy during Friday.
