After battling to a 22-20 victory over Capital on Oct. 31, Nitro's football team meets the Cougars again on Friday when the Class AAA playoffs begin at the same site as the regular-season matchup – the Wildcats’ Underwood Field.
Nitro linebacker Antonio LeRose’s tackle of Capital running back David Robinson in the end zone for a safety during the fourth quarter of that matchup was the lone score of the second half and proved to be the difference.
Kickoff for the rematch is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday.
Nitro followed its win over the Cougars with a victory at Greenbrier East to finish the regular season with a 9-1 record. A late field goal at Herbert Hoover spelled the only defeat to date for the Wildcats.
