Golf is a bit different than most other high school sports where 100% of the action takes place within eyeshot of the head coach.

When Bloomington North's girls team tees off, Harrison Carmichael has five players or more spread out over a half-dozen holes. And most of his attention is likely drawn toward the younger and more inexperienced players who need the most help through a round.

Carmichael was busy bouncing back and forth last year as the sophomore-heavy Cougars were all struggling to break 100 most of the season.

For junior Mira Bruce and several of her teammates, this year was a lot different. They worked hard on their games in the offseason. They started to understand the sport on a different level and could start giving Carmichael feedback he could trust.
