England U21s head coach Lee Carsley has admitted that he has been impressed with Manchester United youngster Shea Lacey after calling him up for training with his squad this week.
Last week, England U20s manager Ben Futcher called up Lacey for their match against Japan on Friday night in Doncaster. However, the 18-year-old, who only made his debut for the U20s last month against Switzerland, has already caught the eye of Carsley.
While at St George's Park, Carsley drafted Lacey into two training sessions with the U21s and the former interim England senior manager has admitted he has one eye on the winger becoming part of his team. Speaking to the Daily Mail, he said: "He's been in the pathway a good amount of time now and he's a player that we rate highly.
