Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan’s Kolkata Knight Riders are three-time winners of the Indian Premier League title but failed to reach the playoffs stage in the IPL 2025 season. Ahead of IPL 2026 Retention Day, KKR are pulling out all the stops to bounce back from an uncharacteristically poor season.

After the appointment of Abhishek Nayar as new head coach and former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson as the assistant coach, the Knight Riders announced another major signing with former New Zealand captain and pacer Tim Southee joining as the bowling coach for the IPL 2026 season.
