The British Transport Police was alerted to reports of a trespasser on the rail lines near Southall shortly before 12am on November 8.

Details of the reports claimed that trespasser was acting erratically and threatening a member of railway staff.

Officers were dispatched to the scene, where they located a man.

He was detained under the Mental Health Act and taken to hospital.

Sky News reports that the trespasser gained access to the cab of the train, which is understood to have been travelling from Paddington station to a depot in Reading.

The man is then alleged to have grabbed the driver's mobile phone, and blocked him into the space before claiming "people were trying to kill him".
