Last month, I wrote about shops and restaurants that once thrived in Ward Warehouse and Ward Centre. Many readers responded, and today we’ll take another look at them.
Ward Warehouse was an outdoor mall mauka of Fisherman’s Wharf. It had two rows of shops and restaurants with parking in the middle. It was built with many wooden beams held together with large bolts. It opened in 1975 and closed in 2017.
Ward Centre opened in 1982, two blocks Diamond Head of Ward Warehouse. It had two air-conditioned sections with a few shops, such as the Yum Yum Tree, between them. Both had parking structures.
Mitch D’Olier was president of Victoria Ward Ltd. from 1993-2002. I asked him what his focus was in that era.
