Resident doctors in Scotland have begun balloting for strike action amid an ongoing dispute over pay.
A recent proposed pay increase of 4.25 per cent was said to have been the lowest in the UK - and was less than was recommended by the independent pay review body. However, Health Secretary Neil Gray argued the uplift was a "fair, affordable, equitable pay offer " and urged members of the British Medical Council to reject strike action.
Scotland's resident doctors - previously known as junior doctors - were due to strike in the summer of 2023 but the action was called off after a new pay offer was proposed.
