New Delhi: The Indian men’s recurve team produced its best performance in recent time as they stunned heavyweights South Korea in a nerve-wracking shoot-off to clinch their first Asian Archery Championships gold medal in 18 years.

The trio of Yashdeep Bhoge, Atanu Das and Rahul rallied from a 2-4 down to register a dramatic 5-4 win over Korean second-string side comprising Seo Mingi, Seo Mingi, Kim Yechan and Jang Jiho, thereby breaking Korea’s stranglehold on the vent since 2009.

It was an exciting battle between the two best as both the teams shot 29 in the shoot-off but India were ultimately declared the winners after Das, who is a two-time Olympian exited early in the individual event but delivered an assured 10 that finished closer to the centre than Korea, registering India’s firs
