PARKERSBURG -- No Capital football coach this millennium has won more playoff games than Jon Carpenter.

The East Bank alumnus has led the Cougars to 17 postseason victories, which is second all-time behind Roger Jefferson, under whom Capital won 19 playoff games from 1989-96.

Carpenter is in his second season back with the Cougars after stepping away in 2020.

The veteran Capital coach has guided the Cougars back to the playoffs for the first time in six seasons.

The Cougars have pieced together a 5-5 record and enter the Class AAA playoffs as the No. 12 seed, with a date against No. 5 Nitro. It'll be the 18th all-time meeting between the two on Friday and third in the playoffs.
