Members of the public are being urged to avoid part of a town centre after a huge fire broke out in a building overnight.
Fire crews are battling the blaze at a building in Rochdale, with police officers putting a large cordon in place. Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said the fire broke out in a commercial building near Mellor Street.
Residents are being asked to avoid the area, with roads in the surrounding area shut. It was originally understood that a number of people have been injured in the blaze but latest information from the fire service is that one firefighter was hurt.
