TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – On Thursday, the Florida Board of Education approved the new standards for an upcoming “ History of Communism ” curriculum coming to the Sunshine State next year.

In a release, FDOE officials said the standards were developed by educators and content experts in the state, and they’re set to be implemented beginning in the 2026-2027 school year.

“With the resurgence of communist ideologies across the United States and throughout the world, it is more important than ever for students to understand the catastrophic failures and human suffering caused by communist regimes,” said Education Commissioner Anastasios Kamoutsas.
